People often ask what actually happens to their sofa once we pick it up. Here's a step-by-step walkthrough of a typical reupholstery project at the Extra Touch studio.

Day 1 — arrival and documentation

Your sofa arrives at our shop on Taylor Street. Before we touch anything, we photograph it from every angle.

Day 2 — strip-down

We carefully remove the old fabric layer by layer.

Days 3–4 — frame and spring restoration

Frame issues get addressed first. Loose joints are re-glued and clamped overnight.

Days 5–6 — foundation

New burlap goes over the springs. Fresh layers of cotton, foam, or polyfill build up the seat foundation.

Days 7-10 — cutting and upholstery

Fabric is cut, laid out, and hand-tailored to fit.

Day 11 — final inspection

Bruce or Peter personally walks every visible inch.

Day 12 — delivery

The completed sofa is wrapped for delivery and brought back to your home.

Every piece that leaves this shop has both Bruce's and my personal sign-off.
